Jacob Lee Harver: Born on a fishin’ barge on the Mississippi river on a hot June day. Came to Youngstown lookin’ for work in the early eighties, not realizing the mills had closed. So he sat on the side walks of the city pickin’ guitar and playin’ harp for the spare nickels of the passerby.
After being exposed as a covert IWW organizer in the infamous Ohio Dairy union incident in 1991, he fled to South America where he learned the secrets of a delicious panini sandwich and a good cup of coffee. 1994 found Jacob discovering the values of strong drink and a smooth living after being sent to Spain as the youth ambassador for Guatemalan culture.
Weary of the world and the scars it leaves, Jacob returned to Youngstown on the dawn of a new century. His family quickly slaughtered a calf in celebration, and all was merry. One October evening Jacob excused himself from the family singing around the hearth to take a moonlit walk through his pear orchard. Struck by the notion that it would be nicer to have a lemon grove, he chopped all the pear trees down and planted lemon trees. The trees soon perished. Yet Jacob’s vision of a lemon grove did not die with those ill-fated trees, rather like a butterfly from the cocoon it was reborn as a beautiful amalgamation of café/ coffee shop/ bar/ art gallery/ performance space/ and community gathering spot.
Jacob also enjoys key lime pie and banjo music.
